Created for the exhibition Alan Kitching: London’s Building Blocks at GRAGRA in Madrid, Spain (2025), The British Tongue is a hand-printed letterpress artwork exploring the quirks of British sayings—seen through the lens of an American living in London. The vibrant red-to-blue gradient, inspired by the Union Jack, represents Britain’s dynamic and ever-evolving cultural identity.
Each poster is printed on a Vandercook SP15 press using a two-layer letterpress process with vintage wood-block type, resulting in a bold, tactile finish.
